Privacy notice
What happens to your details when you visit this website or send us a message. We collect very little, use it only to run the site and reply to you, and never sell it.
Who we are
Ogham Labs Limited is responsible for the details you share through this website. In data protection law, that makes us the controller: the organisation that decides how your details are used.
We are a private company limited by shares, registered in Ireland, company number 821883. Our registered office is shown at the foot of this page. The company is run by its two directors, Cian Burke and Ronan Quinn, and you can reach us both at [email protected].
This notice covers this website, oghamlabs.com. It does not cover the websites we build for clients.
What we collect, and why
Data protection law asks us to give a legal basis for each use of your details: one of the reasons the law accepts. Here is each use, with what we collect and how long we keep it.
When you visit
- What
- The technical details every browser sends with each visit: your IP address (the number your internet connection uses), the page you asked for, the time, and the type of browser and device.
- Why
- To show you the website and protect it from attacks.
- Legal basis
- Our legitimate interests in running a website that works and is safe.
- How long
- Cloudflare, our web host, keeps these server logs for a limited time under its own policies. We don’t use them to find out who you are.
When you send the form or email us
- What
- Your name and email address, which we need to reply. Anything else is up to you: your organisation, your message, and a phone number if you would rather talk.
- Why
- To reply to you and, if you want one, to prepare a quote.
- Legal basis
- Steps you ask us to take before a contract, and our legitimate interests in answering enquiries about our work.
- How long
- Up to two years after we last hear from you. If your enquiry becomes part of a contract or a financial record, six years, as Irish company and tax law requires.
We never sell your details or use them for advertising, and we don’t use them to build a profile of you or to make automatic decisions about you.
Please leave out health details
Please don’t put health details or other sensitive information, about yourself or anyone else, in the form or in an email to us. We don’t need them to talk about a website.
If something like that does reach us, for example about a family member’s care, we use it only to answer you and keep it no longer than we need to.
Who handles your details
Only the two of us read your messages. Two companies handle details for us, so that the website and our email work:
- Cloudflare hosts this website and runs its server code: the part that passes your form message on to our email. That code keeps no copy of your message.
- Microsoft provides our email, Microsoft 365. Form messages, and emails you send us, are kept in our mailbox there.
Both work for us under data protection terms that are part of our agreements with them. We don’t share your details with anyone else, unless the law requires us to.
Outside the EEA
The EEA, the European Economic Area, is the EU plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. Cloudflare and Microsoft run their services around the world, so your details may sometimes be handled outside it.
When that happens, they rely on the safeguards data protection law allows, such as the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission. Email us if you would like more detail.
No cookies, no tracking
This website sets no cookies and saves nothing on your device: no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. That is why you never see a cookie banner here.
The fonts and code all come from this website itself, so opening a page here tells no other company about your visit.
The one exception: if Cloudflare ever has to check that a visitor is a person and not a robot, for example during an attack on the site, it may set a short-lived security cookie for that check alone. It is not used to track you.
Your rights
You can ask us, at any time, to:
- show you the details we hold about you, and give you a copy
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete your details, unless the law says we must keep them
- stop using them, or limit how we use them while a question is sorted out
- give you your details in a form you can take somewhere else
To ask, email [email protected]. We may ask you to confirm who you are first, so that your details never go to the wrong person. We reply within one working day, and deal with every request within one month, as the law requires.
If you are unhappy
Please tell us first, so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission, Ireland’s data protection regulator, at dataprotection.ie.
Changes and questions
